Rock you like a Hurricane . . .
Five games down and the University of Tulsa Golden Hurricane is 5-0. Sure, our schedule is pretty soft. But we are destroying the teams we do play, and this is what good teams should do when playing cupcakes. Our best win to date is a 56-14 beat down over New Mexico, a team that beat Arizona. Amazingly, TU is doing all this in relative obscurity, not having cracked the Top 25 yet despite being clearly better than more than few teams on there. Here are a few stats to chew on and get a taste for the Golden Hurricane:
1. TU boasts THE NUMBER ONE offense in the nation. Yup, #1. Numero Uno. And this is after losing all-world QB Paul Smith to graduation. TU also led the nation in offense last season.
Tulsa is #1 in total scoring at 56.4 points a game.
Tulsa is #1 in yards per game at 600 ypg, and is the only team in the nation (D-1, at least) to average more than 600 ypg.
2. TU's QB, David Johnson (who is an Oregon native- word up) is the nation's #1 rated passer with a rating of 214.86. Dude has 23 touchdowns v. 5 picks.
GO TU!
